The Curling Québec board recently restructured its Meritas Awards program with the intent of adding value and meaning to this important recognition process. Five categories now compose the Meritas Awards series; the objectives, timetable and the various steps of the nomination procedure remain unchanged.
1- Club of the Year:
This award is presented to an affiliated curling club that has distinguished itself through its energy, its originality, its contribution to the development of the sport and its performance in terms of activities, events and membership over the last year.
Award winner 2020-2021 : Curling des Collines
It was during their Annual General Meeting last October 30th that Pierre Bédard, administrator of Curling Québec, presented the Meritas Award Club of the year 2020-2021 to Richard Gervais, president of the Club ds Collines 2020-2021. Congratulations!

2- Player or Team of the Year:
This award is presented to a player or team that has distinguished itself in provincial, national or international competition over the last year.

3- Volunteer of the Year:
This award is presented to a person in recognition of his or her exceptional and sustained volunteer contribution to the management, development and promotion of curling over the last year.

4- Contributor of the Year:
This award is presented to a member of the curling world in recognition of his or her remarkable contribution or outstanding and invaluable involvement in the community. Potential nominees in this category include coaches, referees, ice technicians, journalists and any other individual who has made an exceptional contribution to the management, development or promotion of curling over the last year.
Award winner 2020-2021: Michael Collette
Club de curling Bel-Aire
It was during a Happy Hour organised by the Bel-Aire Curling Club, last Friday April 15th, that Mr. Michael Collette received the Contributor of the Year Meritas Award 2020-2021 from Mr. Serge Bourassa, administratot of Curling Québec. Congratulations to Mr. Collette for its great implication.

5- Outstanding Achievement of the Year:
This award is presented to a person or organization to recognize exceptional and exemplary achievement, performance or contribution in curling over the last year.
Award winner #1 2020-2021 : Mme Claude Bernier
Club de curling et social de Magog
Last October 14th, during the press conference, Mme Claude Bernier received the Meritas Award 2020-2021 for her great implication in their new refrigeration system project. Congratulations!

M. Pierre Bédard, administrator of Curling Québec, took the opportunity to also give the Club of the year Meritas Award 2019-2020 that couldn’t be given last season to Mme Suzanne Cournoyer, president of the club. Congratulations!

Award winner #2 2020-2021 : Campagne de financement Brosse Performance
It was last May 7th, during the closing Tournament 4-Bouts and the end of the season at the Etchemin curling club that Mr. Rémy St-Pierre, Vice-President of Curling Québec, gave the Meritas Award 2020-2021 for the fund raising campaign Campagne de financement Brosse Performance organized to help a local distributor of curling equipment during the Covid-19.

- Application period : from March 1st to April 30th of the current season. Send your applications to Curling Québec (by email or by mail)
- Applications sent to Regional Associations by Curling Québec: from April 30th to May 7th of the current year.
- Selection period of the finalists of each category by the Regional Association: from May 1st to 31st. They also let Curling Québec know about their choices.
- Winners selection period by Curling Québec: June 1st to July 15th.
- Winners unveiled: during the Annual General Meeting in September
