As of December 11, 2026, Quebec’s Act to Prevent the Harmful Effects of Energy Drinks on the Health of Young People will come into force.
Under this new law:
- it will be illegal to sell or give an energy drink to anyone under the age of 16;
- youth under 16 will not be allowed to purchase energy drinks for themselves or for someone else;
- youth under 16 will not be permitted to misrepresent their age in order to purchase an energy drink.
This legislation aims to better protect the health of young people by limiting their access to energy drinks.
Curling Québec encourages parents, coaches, clubs, and volunteers to familiarize themselves with these new regulations and help support their implementation during sport activities.
