-) Fundraiser for curling in Quebec: The deadline for the program Placements Sports is March 31. This program established by the Gouvernement du Québec aims to grow the sport and offer better services by matching every donations made by individuals and businesses to their federation. The government will match all eligible donations 230%, so a $100 donation will bring in $330 to curling, enough to introduce three kids to curling! As this matching program will conclude at the end of the fiscal year and has not been renewed as of yet, we encourage the interested members to make a donation before the end of March to take advantage of this opportunity; it’s not every day that the government is willing to give us money! We also invite ambassadors to share this information with all the members of their club. Thank you! For more information: http://curling-quebec.qc.ca/
-) Curling at the Fairmont Château Montebello: Only two weeks left to register for the tournament at the Château Montebello. Enjoy a gourmet curling get-away week-end in one of the most famous hotel in Québec. Includes meals, accommodation, parking and curling games. For more information, click here. Registration deadline: March 3rd, 2017.
-) WINTER 2017 – Curling 101 & Igloo : Curling 101 and Igloo, two of Curling Québec’s development programs, have been offered in several affiliated curling clubs since last year and the results were more than satisfying. This winter, it’s no less than 55 new players that registered to curling within our 8-weeks initiation programs Curling 101 and Igloo! Many other clubs have already started to plan the implementation of Curling 101 and/or Igloo for fall 2017 and Curling Québec would like to share the invitation to others! Another good thing is that these programs are completely free! More information: Jonathan Savage, development coordinator jsavage@curling-quebec.qc.ca 514-252-3088, extension 3645
-) Subsidy program for replacing R-12 and R-22 gaz systems : Government subsidy program for replacing or modifying R-12 and R-22 gaz refrigerating system in arenas and curling clubs. Curling Québec received a press release from Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport about a subsidy program that curling clubs could benefit from. We don’t know more yet than what you can read in the press release. But as that program will be back next spring, we wanted to let you know so when it will be effective, you will be prepared. As soon as we hear more, we’ll let you know. The press release received is in French only. Click here to see it.
-) Reminder : Jet-Ice Contest : Your club has a chance to win a custom-designed full house. Once again this year, our sponsor Jet-Ice launches a contest of full house design. A 500$ value price. Each club is invited to present as many designs as they want. Send your files in vector files (ai or eps) and in visual format (pdf, jpg or png) at info@curling-quebec.qc.ca before March 17.
8) Construction of a new curling center : For almost a year now, Curling des Collines has been working very hard to raise the funds needed to start the construction of a curling center in the charming municipality of Chelsea. The club still needs to raise $340,000 on this 4 million dollar project. “We are very close to our goal, but we need your help!” The club invites you to make a donation here or here or visit their website for more information.
