Over the past week, several teams from Quebec took part in Canadian championships. The Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship took place from March 21 to 27 in Surrey (British Columbia), the Canadian Junior Mixed Doubles Championship was held from March 24 to 27 in Sudbury (Ontario), while the Canadian Firefighters Curling Championship (March 21–28) and the Canadian Stick Curling Championship (March 27–29) were held in Nova Scotia.
Mixed Doubles
At the Mixed Doubles Championship, the team of Sophie Sanscartier and Maxandre Caron (Boucherville) qualified by winning the provincial championship, while Anne-Sophie Gionest and Robert Desjardins (Riverbend and Chicoutimi) as well as Kelly Tremblay and Pierre Lanoue (Nairn and Boucherville) qualified through their ranking on the Canadian standings.
After the preliminary round, Team Tremblay/Lanoue had a 2–4 record and Team Gionest/Desjardins posted a 3–3 record. Unfortunately for both teams, their records were not enough to qualify for the playoffs.
Team Sanscartier/Caron, for its part, finished the preliminary round in first place in their pool with a 5–1 record, giving them direct access to the quarterfinals. They unfortunately lost in the quarterfinal to the team of Rachel Homan and Brendan Botcher.
Congratulations to all three teams on their strong performances!

Junior Mixed Doubles Curling
Team Lafrance/Tremblay qualified for the Canadian Junior Mixed Doubles Championship through the Eastern Canada qualifier and was therefore one of the eight participating teams. The team played against all other teams in the championship. With a record of 3 wins and 4 losses, Team Lafrance/Tremblay unfortunately did not finish in the top 3 to advance to the playoff round. We would still like to congratulate them for giving it their all on the ice during the first appearance of a Quebec team at the Canadian Junior Mixed Doubles Championship!
Firefighters Curling
The Canadian Firefighters Curling Championship took place in Truro, Nova Scotia. The team composed of Richard Saumur, Luc Ouellette, Robert Périard, Jocelyn Lavoie and Karine Lettre represented Quebec and finished the championship with a 3–7 record.
Congratulations to the five athletes on their performance!

Stick Curling
The Canadian Stick Curling Championship took place at the curling clubs of Windsor, Wolfville and Kentville, all located in Nova Scotia.
On the men’s side, the team composed of Richard Gervais and Serge Vincent (Aurèle-Racine) finished the preliminary round with a 2–3 record, which was unfortunately not enough to qualify for the playoffs.
On the women’s side, the team of Vayna Cormier and Johanne De Guise (Boucherville) also finished with a 2–3 record.
In the mixed category, the team of Danielle Lever and Réjean Robitaille (Boucherville) finished their championship with a 1–4 record.
In the challenge section, the women’s team of Diane Furey and Eva Pathak (Ormstown) had a 3–2 record after the preliminary round and qualified for the playoffs. They were eliminated in the quarterfinals. The mixed teams of Sylvye Turgeon and Jean Lamère (Laval-sur-le-Lac) and Raymonde Vaillancourt and Robert Weldon (Sherbrooke) both posted 3–2 records in the preliminary round. Team Turgeon/Lamère finished in 4th place, while Team Vaillancourt/Weldon was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Congratulations to all the teams!
