Over the past weekend, we hosted the men’s and women’s provincial club championships. The event took place at the Chicoutimi Curling Club from March 27 to 29. The level of play was high, and we crowned two new provincial champion teams!
On the men’s side, Team Briand (Rosemère), which advanced directly to the semifinals, was the only team to qualify for the playoffs with a 3-0 record, while Team Burgess (Rivière-du-Loup) also advanced directly to the semifinals with a 2-1 record. Four teams with 2-1 records qualified for the quarterfinals.

In the first quarterfinal, Team Martin (Trois-Rivières) earned the win in a close match that ended 6-5 against Team Gagnon (Chicoutimi). In the second quarterfinal, Teams Chayer (Boucherville) and Munroe (Victoria) faced off. While the game was still close after six ends, the 7th end decided the outcome as Team Munroe stole four points to win 10-5.
In the first semifinal, Team Briand maintained its perfect record with a quick 8-3 victory over Team Martin. In the other semifinal, Team Munroe managed to score one point in the 8th end to defeat Team Burgess 7-5.
In the final, Team Briand scored one point with the hammer in the first end. Team Munroe then had two consecutive blank ends before giving up two stolen points in the 4th. Trailing, they had to take several risks and conceded four points in the 5th and two points in the 6th to fall 9-0. In the bronze medal game, Team Burgess won 6-2.

None of this would have been possible without the hard work of the volunteers at the Chicoutimi Curling Club. We thank the organizing committee for their work in hosting the championship.
We would also like to thank our officials, Mr. Marioe Deshaies and Mr. Richard Cimon, who officiated the championship.
