We would like to inform you of a change to the Mixed Doubles stone placement regulations, which will come into effect at the start of the 2026–2027 season.
As the 2026–2027 Rule Book has not yet been published, we are sharing this information now to allow clubs, facilities, and event organizers sufficient time to prepare. The updated measurements will be incorporated into the Rule Book beginning this season.
What is changing?
Previously, three stone placement locations were marked, providing six possible placement options. Feedback indicated that the distance between certain locations, particularly between Locations 2 and 3, could make it difficult to select the most appropriate placement based on ice conditions and the stones being used. To address this, the current middle location has been removed and replaced with two new locations, increasing the total number of locations to four. The locations closest to and farthest from the house remain unchanged. As a result, the power play locations and measurements have also been updated. The locations are measured from the intersection of the tee line and the 8-foot circle (the reference point for the stone placed in the house) to the centre of the hack. This method has been adopted to ensure fairness for both right-handed and left-handed players.
