The Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship took place from April 27 to May 2, 2026, at the Boucherville Curling Club in Quebec. It was the second consecutive year that the Boucherville Curling Club hosted this event. Twelve teams were competing for the title, and we were fortunate to have two teams representing Quebec. The teams were divided into two groups of six teams for the preliminary round, and the top three teams from each group advanced to the playoff round. While Team Quebec 2 unfortunately did not qualify for the playoff round, Team Quebec 1 came away with the title, just one year after winning the silver medal at the same event in the same venue.

Team Quebec 2 was represented by Luc Hamel, Mario Trudel, Martin Larose, Monique Martel, Annik Charron, and coach Jacques Palasse. During their championship week, they faced teams from Newfoundland and Labrador, Northern Ontario, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, and New Brunswick, earning a 7–5 victory against Nova Scotia and a 7–6 win against New Brunswick. Unfortunately, their record of two wins and three losses was not enough to qualify for the playoff round. Congratulations to Team Quebec 2 for a great week in Boucherville!

Team Quebec 1, made up of Carl Marquis, Sebastien Boisvert, François Lacourse, Johanne Mathieu, Noémie Gagné, and their coach Germain Tremblay, had a perfect week. During the preliminary round, the team won all of its games against British Columbia #2, Manitoba, Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia #1. Once they reached the playoff round, Team Quebec 1 continued its dream run by winning all of its games and captured the Canadian championship with a perfect 8–0 record! We would like to congratulate the team on this outstanding achievement — BRAVO!
Curling Québec would also like to highlight the presence of many volunteers from the Quebec curling community during this championship. Many curlers contributed to the success of the event by volunteering for the Defi Sportif AlterGo, including Serge Brazeau, Richard Roy, and Pierrette Houle. On the Curling Canada officials’ side, seven umpires from Quebec were selected for the event: Jacques Desharnais, Jacques Simard, Yves Morissette, Mario Deshaies, Jean Lamère, Johanne Charest, and head official Robert Rajotte. Congratulations to everyone, and thank you for your time and dedication!
