Quebec had a memorable weekend at the Canadian U20 Junior Curling Championships, held in Sudbury from March 28 to April 4, wrapping up an outstanding week of competition with a gold medal in the women’s event and a bronze medal on the men’s side.
Kénogami Curling Club women crowned Canadian champions
After an almost perfect run marked by an impressive record of 10 wins and only one loss, the Kénogami Curling Club representatives capped off their tournament in spectacular fashion. Facing Manitoba in the final, they secured a thrilling 8–7 victory. In a tightly contested match right to the very end, the Quebec team showed patience and perseverance by stealing two points in the final end to claim the win. This victory is especially meaningful: last year, the team also reached the final but fell short, earning the silver medal. This time, they got their revenge in the best possible way, finishing their junior careers together as champions.
Congratulations to Mégane Fortin, Mégane Lafrance, Emy Lafrance, Jolianne Fortin and Brandon Lafrance (coach)!
With this triumph, they will have the honour of representing Canada at the World Junior Championships next winter — a prestigious opportunity to shine on the international stage, BRAVO!

A well-earned bronze medal for the men’s team
On their side, Quebec’s men’s team also delivered a high-quality championship performance. With a strong record of 6 wins and 2 losses in the preliminary round, they qualified for the playoffs and advanced to the quarterfinals. After a win over Ontario2, their run continued to the semifinals, where they came within inches of reaching the final, narrowly losing in an extra end.
They then showed great resilience by winning the bronze medal game against Alberta2.
Congratulations to Raphael Tremblay, Louis-François Brassard, Pierre-Olivier Roy, Mathis Arsenault, Thomas Corbeil and Jean-Sébastien Roy (coach)!
A very positive overall result for Quebec
The third Quebec team competing at the Canadian championship, made up of Summer St James, Léonie Lamarre, Emma Nguyen, Alexandra Legault, Cassandra Roy and Sonny St. James (coach), also delivered strong performances. However, with a record of 4 wins and 4 losses, the team unfortunately did not qualify for the playoff round.
With a gold medal and a bronze medal, Quebec leaves these championships with an extremely positive outcome. These results highlight the strength of the next generation and the hard work of the teams — a big BRAVO!
