The 2026 U15 Regional Final took place from April 10 to 12 at the Laurier Curling Club in Victoriaville. For this 3rd edition, many athletes were experiencing their very first provincial event! Here are the teams that participated:
- Team Bel-Aire/Laval (winning team from the South Shore regional tournament)
- Team Lachute (winning team from the Outaouais regional tournament)
- Team Etchemin Monsieur Bubble (winning team from the Greater Quebec regional tournament)
- Team Opémiska (winning team from the Saguenay–Lac-St-Jean regional tournament)
- Team Kénogami (winning team from the Mauricie regional tournament)
- Team St-Lambert (winning team from the Southwest regional tournament)
- Team Laurier (host team)
- Team Noranda/Belvédère (winning team from the Northwest regional tournament)
- Team Pointe-Claire/Baie d’Urfé (winning team from the Montreal regional tournament)
- Team Sept-Îles (winning team from the Côte-Nord regional tournament)
- Team Victoria (team randomly selected among all second-place teams)
- Team Pointe-Claire/Baie d’Urfé Special Forces (team randomly selected among all second-place teams)

The competition, as is often the case in regional tournaments, was based on a somewhat unique system: standings were first determined by number of wins, then by number of ends won, and finally, if needed, by draw to the button results (DSC).
Moreover, instead of using a traditional round-robin format, rankings were updated after each game to determine the next matchups. This system allowed winning teams to face each other, as well as losing teams to compete against one another. It promoted more balanced games between teams of similar skill levels and made the competition more enjoyable and engaging throughout the tournament.
After the 4 guaranteed games for all teams, 4 teams were at the top of the standings and therefore qualified for the medal games:
- Pointe-Claire/Baie d’Urfé with 4 wins, 16 ends, and a total DSC of 472.1 cm
- Etchemin Monsieur Bubble with 3 wins, 12 ends, and a total DSC of 498.8 cm
- Opémiska with 3 wins, 12 ends, and a total DSC of 685.6 cm
- St-Lambert with 3 wins, 12 ends, and a total DSC of 744.2 cm
While Team Pointe-Claire/Baie d’Urfé qualified for the final with a perfect record, the three other teams with 3 wins were ranked based solely on their DSC.
In the bronze medal game, Team St-Lambert took the lead early against Team Opémiska to secure a medal. Despite a strong performance from Team Opémiska over the weekend, they were unfortunately unable to defeat St-Lambert and therefore finished in a very respectable 4th place—congratulations!
In the gold medal game, Team Pointe-Claire/Baie d’Urfé started strong by scoring four points in the first end and managed to maintain their lead through the 6th end (final end). However, thanks to strong play from Team Etchemin Monsieur Bubble, Team Pointe-Claire/Baie d’Urfé still had to make their final shot to secure the win, as they risked giving up a steal of 4 in the last end. The successful final stone allowed them to claim the trophy—congratulations!

During the championship, we also wanted to emphasize youth and fun, not just competition. We organized a chocolate egg hunt in the club, a photo rally, and a Bingo. The club also prepared a friendly dinner on Saturday evening, as well as breakfasts to start the day right. Finally, volunteers prepared snacks after each game to give the young athletes a chance to socialize with their opponents at the end of each match.
Over the weekend, we were also fortunate to have a volunteer photographer who took many photos so the athletes could keep memories of their championship. The photos can be found here: See photos from the 2026 U15 Regional Final.
On Saturday evening, Curling Québec also took time to present the Sportsmanship Award to an athlete who stood out for their respect toward opponents, officials, and fellow athletes, as well as for promoting the values of the sport. After consultation with the organizing committee and the head official of the championship, it was decided that Benjamin Lanciaux, a member of Team Opémiska, would receive this award—congratulations Benjamin! Each year, an influential figure in Quebec curling sponsors this award at the U15 Regional Final. This year, our high-performance consultant, François Roberge, generously donated his 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts jersey—thank you very much!

Finally, we would like to take a moment to thank all the volunteers on the organizing committee as well as the Victoriaville Curling Club for their warm welcome. Emmanuel, Pierrette, Robert, and their team of volunteers succeeded in making this event a meaningful experience for all the young participants. THANK YOU!
