Last week, two Quebec teams participated in the Canadian Curling Club Championship. For this event, all the members of a team must be members from the same curling club.
On the men’s side, the team curling out of the club sports Belvédère was made up of Ghislain Doyon, Sonny Melançon, Serge St-Germain and Vincent Raymond. Unfortunately for our men’s team, they found themselves on the wrong side of tight games a couple of times. Although they tried their best, they had a record of 2-4 which was not enough to qualify for the playoffs.
In the women’s event, the team represented the Trois-Rivières curling club was made up of Miriam Perron, Marie-Laurence Bergeron, Véronique Gingras, Marie-Pier Ayotte and Manon Morin. In the preliminary round, they had a record of 4-2 which qualified them for the playoffs. They then had a 2-1 record that allowed them to qualify for the semi-finals. In the semi-final against New Brunswick, an extra end was necessary, and team Perron had the hammer which they used to score 3 points and win the game. Unfortunately, in the final they did not have the hammer in the final end and were unable to steal the win away from team Ontario. They are still leaving the event with a silver medal thanks to their great performance.
Congratulations to both teams!
