April 4, 2019 – MONTREAL, Quebec – On Saturday, March 30th, Kurling for Kids held its 21st edition of its annual bonspiel at 11 curling clubs, across the island of Montreal, and its surrounding areas. This year, the not-for-profit announced a financial goal of $500,000 to purchase much needed state-of-the-art medical equipment for both CHU Ste-Justine’s and the Montreal Children’s hospital. By Saturday evening, K4K was happy to report a total of $300,000 raised so far.
“What an incredible achievement so far. It’s clear to see the hard work and dedication our volunteers and participants have towards this great cause!” says Stan Fong, Director at Kurling for Kids. “With less than a month from our final draw for our raffle tickets, we are confident we can achieve the full $500,000 and encourage everyone to keep raising money and making donations.”
This year, Kurling for Kids has been in the process of expanding through corporate events and to other curling clubs, which has shown to be successful so far.
“The feedback we have been getting from everyone we’ve approached to hold an event, has been positive up to now. We are certain that we will be adding to the K4K family next year,” explains John Stone, Secretary and Treasurer for Kurling for Kids.”Also, the success of our corporate events has allowed us to tap into new markets and helped us increase our visibility. Companies who have never heard of us before, are now talking about us to their partners across Canada. At the end of the day, that’s our goal: to grow our event across the country and raise money for much needed equipment and programs for children’s hospitals.”
Kurling for Kids holds its final draw on April 27th, at the Montreal West Curling Club. Those still interested in donating or buying raffle tickets can still so by visiting K4K’s website.
