Location: Flexible. Hybrid position with a mix of virtual work, in-office presence (Montreal), and on-site travel to clubs as required.
Position Overview
Curling Quebec is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as our Club Development Coordinator. This role is essential in supporting and strengthening member clubs, ensuring they operate as thriving businesses and community hubs while fostering participation at all levels.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Club Development Coordinator will work closely with club leaders, volunteers, and key stakeholders to provide expert guidance, resources, and strategic initiatives that align with Curling Quebec’s strategic plan. This position requires a strong relationship builder with expertise in club operations, business development, and governance. An understanding of curling and curling club management is an asset.
Key Responsibilities
1. Club Engagement & Business Development
- Act as the primary relationship manager for member clubs, ensuring they receive support to strengthen operations, governance, and long-term sustainability.
- Develop and implement programs, tools, and mentorship opportunities that assist clubs in increasing participation, improving financial health, and building their human resource capacity/volunteer base.
- Provide strategic consultation on club business models, helping clubs navigate challenges related to governance, infrastructure, and membership growth.
- Strengthen Curling Quebec’s value proposition for clubs and their members, ensuring members see a direct benefit from their affiliation.
- Assist clubs in leveraging marketing strategies, partnerships, and promotional campaigns to attract and retain curlers.
- Conduct regular club visits and direct consultations, ensuring strong engagement and effective collaboration.
- Help clubs diversify their financial models, exploring cost-saving strategies, shared services, and fundraising opportunities.
2. Leadership Development & Training
- Promote and facilitate professional development opportunities for club managers, board members and volunteers.
- Provide access to training, mentorship, and best practices, ensuring strong leadership pipelines within member clubs.
- Lead initiatives to engage youth and underrepresented groups within clubs in the province.
3. Club Competition & Event Support
- Assist clubs in enhancing their capacity to host competitions and events, ensuring they are positioned for financial and operational success.
- Support the alignment between club-based competition structures and provincial-level events, ensuring clubs benefit from competitive engagement.
- Assist Curling Quebec staff members with event preparation and reporting during the busy championship season.
4. Advocacy & Sport Development
- Work with clubs to promote their importance as essential community spaces.
- Provide resources and policy guidance on safe sport practices, risk management, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Act as a connector between clubs and external stakeholders, ensuring clubs have the tools and support needed to advocate for their interests at municipal and provincial levels.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in sport administration, business development, or nonprofit leadership, with a strong understanding of club operations and community engagement.
- Knowledge of business strategy, revenue generation, and financial sustainability within a membership-driven environment.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English, with experience presenting to and supporting diverse audiences.
- Passion for curling and community development, with an understanding of the unique needs of curling clubs.

Nature of Work and Compensation
- This position will require the successful candidate to work on occasion from home, as well as from Curling Quebec’s office in Montreal and periodically travel to visit member clubs throughout the province. Due to the volunteer nature of curling club operations, work hours may vary, and seasonal evening and weekend work will be required.
- The starting salary for this position will range between $40,000 to $50,000 based on experience, with two weeks of vacation. The incumbent will be provided with a laptop and any other equipment required. Work-related expenses are reimbursed as per Curling Quebec’s policies.
