One of curling’s most prestigious events will have a new title sponsor, it was announced today by the Canadian Curling Association.
Home Hardware, Canada’s largest dealer-owned home improvement retailer, will be the title sponsor of the Canada Cup of Curling, presented by Meridian Manufacturing, for the next three years, beginning with the 2014 event Dec. 3-7 at Encana Arena in Camrose, Alta. — the opening event of the 2014-15 Season of Champions.
The Home Hardware Canada Cup of Curling will feature 2014 Olympic gold-medallists Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., and Jennifer Jones of Winnipeg, along with the Team Canada entries for the 2015 Tim Hortons Brier, presented by SecurTek, in Calgary — John Morris of Calgary — and the2015 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw, Sask. — Rachel Homan of Ottawa.
“It’s a perfect fit between us and Home Hardware,” said CCA Chief Executive Officer Greg Stremlaw. “We’ve had a great relationship with their company as they were the exclusive home improvement retailer and a National Supplier for the Season of Champions last season. Now, they have taken a leading role with an event that will feature Canada’s best teams as they begin their pursuit of the right to represent Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.”
Home Hardware has nearly 1,100 stores operating in every province and territory, under one of its four banners: Home Hardware, Home Hardware Building Centre, Home Building Centre and Home Furniture.
“Home Hardware is proud to partner with the Canadian Curling Association,” said Terry Davis, CEO of Home Hardware Stores Limited. “We are focused on supporting our communities across Canada and it is a pleasure to continue supporting one of the nation’s most popular and distinctive sports.”
Home Hardware joins a list of prominent companies as title sponsors for the Season of Champions, including Tim Hortons, Kruger Products, Ford of Canada, M&M Meat Shops and World Financial Group.
