Hi everyone. Here is your weekly news :
1- A fabulous success for the new Des Collines curling club : From October-December, Des Collines curling club was a great success with more than 430 members and 22 juniors in a school program. They also had 23 kids in their Igloo 1 program, 96 participants in the Curling 101 (including 45 members). For January they have more than 50 people waiting for the next Curling 101, 7 waiting for Igloo 1 and 13 waiting for Igloo 2. The volunteers will be very busy the next 3 months. Congratulations to the executive team and the marvelous team of volunteers for that great success!
2- A financial helping hand for two arenas and one curling club in the Eastern Townships : The Minister responsible for Recreation and Sport, Isabelle Charest, announced 10 million dollars of investments to modernize Quebec’s arenas and curling clubs. https://ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/1142735/coup-de-pouce-financier-pour-deux-arenas-et-un-centre-de-curling-de-lestrie

4-François-Béliveau Journalism Meritas Award : Last Saturday, December 15th, Serge Bourassa, director of Curling Quebec alongside with Daniel Beaulieu, President of the Sept-Îles curling club, gave the François-Béliveau Journalism Meritas Award to Sylvain Turcotte. Congratulations to Mr. Turcotte for the great coverage of our sport in the media.
5- Special Tribute Meritas Award : Last Saturday, December 15th, Serge Bourassa, director of Curling Quebec alongside with Daniel Beaulieu, President of the Sept-Îles curling club, gave the Special Tribute Meritas Award to Laval Chouinard. Congratulations to Mr. Chouinard and a thousand thanks for the over 30 years of volunteering that he gave to our sport.
6- Umpire of the year Meritas Award : It was last Saturday December 15th, during a local tournament that Stefan Sasura, secretary of Curling Quebec, gave the Umpire of the year Meritas Award to Greg Sleno from the Glenmore curling club. Congratulations Greg!
7- Club Coach of the year Meritas Award : It was last Saturday December 15th, during a local tournament that Stefan Sasura, secretary of Curling Quebec, gave the Club Coach of the year Meritas Award to Benoit Forget from the Glenmore curling club. Congratulations Benoit!
8- Invitation : Jacques-Cartier curling club invites you to its Women Competition Tournament that will happen from November 7th to 10th, 2019.
9- Curling Québec’s Christmas Holidays : Take note that the Curling Québec’s office will be closed from December 20th noon (12h00) to January 3rd, 2019 8h30 for the Christmas Holidays.
