1-) Services for clubs: Many of you are asking what services are provided by Curling Québec to the affiliated clubs. Our website has a new section dedicated to indexing all the services offered by the federation to help clubs in their activities. Whether you are looking for ways to recruit new members, help for fundraising, workshops for your board or more, Curling Quebec is happy to help. Visit our web page to learn more.
2-) New service offered by Curling Québec: Curling Quebec can now offer its affiliated clubs a service to issue tax receipts for donations raised by the club. Clubs wishing to offer tax receipts to their donors can submit projects to the federation. Projects eligible for the “Fonds Sports Québec” program will have access to this service. 3-) A new online, easy-to-use and interactive form for Meritas: It’s that time of the year again! You can now seind in your 2016-2017 Meritas nominations. The Meritas Awards are coordinated by Curling Quebec for the recognition of the exceptional achievements of volunteers, craftsmen and craftswomen, athletes and the various curling events that are part of the program. We invite you to submit candidates by filling out this new, easy-to-use and interactive form in one of the 12 available categories. You can suggest as many candidates as you wish, there’s no limit. The deadline for to submit forms is April 15th, 2017. For more details, visit our website. Lots of people are worth being recognized. It is time to do so!!
4-) Big subsidies for Chicoutimi curling club: Following a provincial government contribution, Ville de Saguenay is giving significant financial assistance to the Chicoutimi Curling Club to update their refrigeration system. Québec will inject 2,8 M $ to modernise arenas and curling clubs in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean regions. Those amounts are given through the Program of replacement or updating refrigerating system using R-12 or R-22 gaz. See this article and the Ville de Saguenay Facebook page.
5-) Hats off to the Sept-Iles curling club: Last week, the Sept-Iles curling club hosted the men and women’s provincial masters championship. The winning teams get to represent Quebec at the National Championship, but their expenses are not covered by Curling Canada. The organizing committee in Sept-Iles decided to sponsor the winning teams by donating the profits of their 50/50 raffle to both winning teams. What a great initiative by the club! Thank you for helping our champions!
6-) End of the Jet-Ice Contest: Today was the final day of the Jet-Ice contest. Thanks to all of you who sent house designs. In the next weeks, the winner will be chosen and we’ll let you know as soon as possible. The winner will receive a full house from Jet-Ice with the winning design. See you next time !
