Hello everyone. Here is your weekly news:
1- Registration period for championships has begun: You may now register your team for any of the following events: Elite series (men, women, seniors, masters, mixed, mixed doubles, wheelchair), Juniors (U21), juveniles (U18), and colts (5 years of experience or less). 3- Concussion protocol: Many of you are wondering what to do or not do about concussions. Curling Québec does oblige the clubs to follow any specific rules. However, we invite you to read the Concussion Management Protocol (in French only) written by the Government of Quebec and take some ideas to elaborate your own rules. Click here to view it.
4- Helmet use recommandations: Curling Canada had a lot of discussions about the use of protective head gear for beginners and children and here are their recommandations. Every club is free to apply them or not.
5- Hydro-Québec sponsors the Fondation de l’athlète d’excellence: For the 20th consecutive year, Hydro-Québec supports student-athletes that are the most promissing by giving 33 individual scholarships within the Programme de bourses Hydro-Québec au sein de la Fondation de l’athlète d’excellence du Québec (FAEQ). Congratulations to Cynthia St-Georges and Laurie St-Georges who each received a $2000 scholarship.
6- Promotional tools: Ask and you shall receive! Your donations to Placement Sports allowed us, among other things, to develop promotional tools for curling clubs. Our slogan ‘Don’t think twice and get out on the ice’ is now on 19′ X 24′ posters and on mini-flyers. For only 20$ taxes included (just to cover the postal fees) get 5 posters and 25 flyers. Both are bilingual recto-verso.
7- Generic posters from Curling Canada: Curling Canada’s generic posters are now available and you can click here for the file and print it.
8- Canceled workshops: Please note that any workshop offered by Curling Quebec must be paid by the participant BEFORE the begining of the workshop. Any workshop that didn’t not receive at least 8 payments 10 days before the workshop will be canceled. Material must be prepared for those workshops and they imply expenses.
9- Invitation: Lacolle Curling Club invites you to its Open House next September 25, 26 and 27. Everyone is welcome.
10- Invitation: Hello fellow curlers! Bob Martin & Damian Pilié invite everyone to take part in the opening TMR bonspiel, the 3rd annual Cleghorn Pairs, which will take place Oct 8-9 2017.
11- Invitation: Jacques-Cartier curling club invites you to its 45th edition of its Women Competition called Tournoi 2017 J’❤️ le tournoi JC November 2 to 5.
