3-) Clarification – Competition Coach Introduction Certification : To eliminate any doubts and to clarify things and as mentioned many times before, Sports Québec (for the Jeux du Québec) and Curling Québec (for all Serie Junior tournaments) require that Competition Coaches be Certified. Few steps have to be successfully done to get certification. After the 2 days workshop, the online evaluation of the Ethical Decision Making then the practice plan has to be reviewed by the evaluator and then, an on ice performance with your team will determine if you get your certification or not. Curling Quebec has reserved 2 days at the Aurèle-Racine curling club only for those coaches on ice performances next October 29-30. Each performance takes about 2 hours on ice. That’s enough time for the evalulator to see if you get your final certification or not. We still have places available. See our calendar on our new website to register http://curling-quebec.qc.ca/event/competition-coach-introduction-workshop-2-days-etchemin/?lang=en

5-) Legal Background Checks : An email was sent this week to all of our database coaches concerning the new request from Sports Québec – and consequently by Curling Québec – in matter of legal Background Checks of any competition coach accompanying youngsters. Every Competition coach must provide Curling Québec a background check report at least 10 days before an event. For the Jeux du Québec, the URLS has now the same obligation towards ‘accompagnateurs’. No obligation for background check for officials. Any background check report can be done by your local organism in charge of those reports (local police, RCMP, etc.). Or, the Sports Québec supplier, Sterling Back Check. For more details, contact us.
