1-) Death of Mrs Rita Proulx : It is with sorrow that we learned the death of Mrs Rita Proulx. She was 97. She was a member of Curling Québec’s and Curling Canada’s Hall of Fame. As a player, she won 6 women provincial championships and 4 senior provincial championships. In 1955 she founded the Ladies Curling Association of Quebec. She also had a seat at the Ladies Curling Association of Canada and at the World International Curling Women Comitee. 2-) Candidates for the CQ Board of Directors : Members wishing to apply for a mandate for the Board of Directors of Curling Quebec are invited to complete the attached form and return it before August 10th. 3-) A grant of 300$ – 1000$ for clubs – ParticipACTION 150 Play List : Send your 150 Play List grant applications before April 24th (300$ – 1000$) !! Since curling is in the ParticipACTION 150 Play List, an ultimate list of physical activities that define us as Canadian. All of our affiliated curling clubs can benefit from microgrants ranging from $300 to $1000 to organize events that give people the opportunity to move by playing curling! 4-) ”Au Québec on bouge!”: a new politic : Here are some of the measures announced with the last provincial budget : Up to 2019, more than $500,000,000 will be invested for the enhancement of sport and recreational estates. Also the ”Placements Sports” program has been renewed for the next 10 years.
5-) Kurling for Kids : Kurling for Kids, 19th edition, was presented on April 1st. Many clubs across the province participate annually in this wonderful fundraising event for the Ste-Justine Hospital and the Montreal’s Children. Thanks to all the participants and to a last minute special donation, the amount raised this year was $302,000. Congratulations to the organizers and everyone involved in this great event. 6-) Championship rings : Mr. James Thompson, curler, curling fan, and goldsmith, wanted to recognize the champion teams of the boys and girls Brosse Performance Junior Provincial championships which were held in Lennoxville and Sherbrooke Curling Clubs in January 2017. With that in mind, Mr. Thompson and Williams Recognition came up with a unique idea to create a championship ring for each player so that they could forever have something to remember their victory. The rings were recently presented by Mr. André Ferland at a special ceremony which was organized by the Etchemin Curling Club to celebrate all of their champions from the 2016-17 season. http://williamsrecognition.
