The Provincial Championships in Rimouski
It is with great pride that we close a memorable week of curling in Rimouski. For the very first time, the men’s, women’s, and wheelchair provincial championships were presented simultaneously at the same location, creating a unique and unifying atmosphere for the entire Quebec curling community.
Thanks to the energy, professionalism, and commitment of the host committee, the event was an outstanding success across the board. We would like to warmly thank Marc Tremblay and his entire team, whose remarkable work made it possible to deliver a high-quality championship for athletes, volunteers, and spectators alike. This championship will undoubtedly remain etched in the memory of everyone who took part.
A huge thank you as well to our ice technicians Alexandre, Réjean, Neil, and Sylvain, who devoted very long hours to transforming the arena into high quality curling ice. Their expertise and dedication allowed athletes to compete on excellent ice throughout the week, an essential element in the success of such an event.
Finally, we wish to highlight the exceptional work of our officials Robert, Diane, and Mario, along with their volunteers, who were present from start to finish for all three championships. Their consistency, availability, and professionalism ensured the smooth running of the competitions and helped maintain a fair and respectful playing environment.
Thank you to all the volunteers, partners, and community members who made this championship an exceptional event, worthy of the talent and passion that drive curling in Quebec..

Men’s Provincial Championship
During the week of competition in Rimouski, 16 teams took part in the Men’s Provincial Championship, called the Tankard. The men’s event was held from January 5 to 11, with a practice day on January 5 to allow teams to prepare under optimal conditions.
All teams qualified for this championship through one of the following pathways: 1 Team Québec from the previous season, 3 teams via accumulated CTRS points, 3 teams via provincial circuit points, 1 team via the provincial circuit final, 6 teams through the regional qualification tournaments held during the first part of the season, and the final two spots through the last chance Tankard Qualifier.
The 16 teams were divided into two groups of eight for a round-robin preliminary round, a new format for this season. Round-robin play took place from Monday to Friday. The top three teams from each group then advanced to the championship pool, held on Friday and
Saturday. The three qualified teams from each pool played against the top three teams from the opposite pool to determine the final four teams advancing to the playoff round.
The six teams that qualified for the championship round were Teams Tremblay, Ménard, Martel, Benoit, Kennedy, and Leduc. After 10 games, the top four teams recorded 10, 9, 8, and 7 wins respectively, earning them each a spot in the Page playoff. In the Page 1 vs. 2 Ménard defeated Tremblay in a tightly contested match, while Martel easily defeated Benoit in the 3 vs 4 game. In the semifinal, Tremblay defeated Martel to earn a return trip to the final. In the championship final, the game remaining close through eight ends but a steal of three in the ninth end by Team Ménard secured the victory. We therefore congratulate Team Ménard on their win, as well as the other medal-winning teams for their performances:

Hit, Draw, Tap!
On Sunday, January 4, we welcomed many young athletes from all over the province to Rimouski for the final of the Hit, Draw, Tap! skills competition. The participants had the chance to play on arena ice during the competition and then enjoy a friendly moment over a pizza lunch. Finally, they were able to watch the first game of the women’s provincial championship in the afternoon.
For the competition, the athletes were divided into three age categories: 6–7 years, 8–9 years, and 10–12 years. Each participant had to perform three types of shots: a draw, a takeout, and a tap. All points were added up, and we would like to congratulate the medal-winning athletes:
