Last weekend was especially busy for young athletes at the Victoria and Etchemin Curling Clubs. Three events took place over the weekend, offering competition for all levels. Curling Québec would like to thank the Victoria and Etchemin Curling Clubs and their volunteers for making this major event a success!
Junior Excellence Tournament
The Victoria and Etchemin Curling Clubs hosted the Junior Excellence Tournament, bringing together Quebec teams as well as teams from other provinces (two from Nova Scotia and one from New Brunswick) for high-level competition. This event allowed athletes to compete against top teams, gain experience, and prepare for upcoming provincial championships. Here are the results:
Boys
-
1st place: Team Grand-Mère EV Duty
-
2nd place: Team Pointe-Claire
-
Semi-finalists: Team New Brunswick Matheson & Team BTR/St-Lambert
Girls
-
1st place: Team Kénogami Soudex
-
2nd place: Team Pointe-Claire U20
-
Semi-finalists: Team Riverbend/Opémiska/Jacques-Cartier & Team Nova Scotia Pembleton

Junior TremplinTournament
The Junior Tremplin Tournament was also held at the Victoria and Etchemin Curling Clubs, featuring 12 teams. This series of events aims to provide athletes with a positive first experience as a team, a space to develop, and an opportunity to compete against teams from across the province. Congratulations to the medal-winning teams:
-
Gold: Team Victoria/Ville Mont-Royal
-
Silver: Team Etchemin
-
Bronze: Team St-Lambert/Rosemère/Pointe-Claire
A participation section was also organized on Sunday to allow other teams to develop their skills, which was won by the Rivière-du-Loup team.

Provincial FestiPierre (Rockfest) U15 Qualification
The Victoria Curling Club hosted the first in-person edition of the FestiPierre U15 provincial qualification. Participants had the opportunity to learn and compete both off-ice and on-ice. The day began with a learning session led by François Roberge, our High Performance Consultant, followed by two rounds of on-ice qualification. Medals were awarded at the end of the day, along with a group dinner to help the young athletes recharge between rounds.
Congratulations to the six medal-winning athletes — three boys and three girls — who are now qualified for the Eastern Canada FestiPierre, organized by Curling Canada during the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Mississauga in January.
Volunteers and organizers also praised the young athletes for their teamwork and sportsmanship: “Even though it was an individual competition, all athletes played together, collaborated, and gave their best to ensure everyone could score as many points as possible — it was beautiful to see!”
