Once again this season the colts category stayed very popular and the provincial colts championship was a wonderful way to end the season. The championship was held from April 11th-14th at the Lachine curling club.
In total, 20 teams made up of players with 5 seasons or less experience were at the event to compete. They were divided in 5 pools of 4 teams for the preliminary round after which 8 teams qualified for the playoffs.
In the championship game, the defending champions team Pinoul (Glenmore/Lachine) played team Lelièvre (Noranda). An extra end was needed and team Lelièvre did not have to throw their final rock to win the gold medal.
In the bronze medal game, team Ouellet (Rivière-du-Loup) stole one point in the eight end to get a 5-4 win against team Doyon (Aurèle-Racine).
This was a very well organised event that was filled with fun for everyone involved. We once again saw that new curlers are excited to compete in tournaments and championships which gives us great confidence for the future.
