Our Quebec teams were on fire last week during the Canadian Curling Club Championship that took place in Leduc, Alberta. The teams of Isabelle Néron (women’s champîonship) and Jasmin Gibeau (men’s division) rocked their way through the tournament and returned to our home province with medals hanging from their necks.
Our women’s team (Isabelle Néron, Karine Tremblay, Edith Cottenoire and Véronique Bouchard) gave an outstanding performance throughout the week and hit their peak against a determined victory against Team Yukon to win the bronze medal. The ladies faced each game ready to fight their way through with resilience and talent.
The men’s rink of Jasmin Gibeau, Dan deWaard, Dan Lemery and Kevin Menard decimated their competition during the round robin and only came to a complete stop with a loss to the excellent Ontario team in the Championship final. Team skip Jasmin Gibeau also went on to win the Most Valuable Player award, awarded to the player with the most notable sportsmanship and performances, as well as his respect toward other teams.
Congratulations once more to our incredible athletes who represented us with such class and skill. Thanks to them, the future of curling in Quebec is looking extremely bright.
