THE CHALLENGE CASINO DE CHARLEVOIX LAUNCHES REGISTRATION FOR ITS 21ST EDITION
Considering the gradual deconfinement of sports activities, the imminent reopening of its major partner’s facilities and the latest encouraging propagation COVID-19 statistics, the organizing committee of the 21st edition of the Challenge Casino de Charlevoix has decided to go ahead and launch registration for this event. The Challenge Casino de Charlevoix will take place from November 26th to 29th.
The organizing committee is fully aware that this edition will have to be held under strict sanitary measures and that certain social activities usually surrounding the event will have to be cancelled or greatly modified. The organizing committee is determined to provide a safe and secure venue to compete and enjoy the various levels of competition that the Challenge offers curling players from year to year. The committee also knows how important the Challenge is for the Charlevoix’s local economy and businesses – especially in its touristic sector. The committee is also hoping, despite the financial setbacks COVID-19 has created for many businesses, that the Challenge’s usual financial partners will join with Loto-Québec who have already confirmed its financial participation, towards making this 21st edition a resounding success.
The organizing committee realizes it is taking up a very important challenge. “The exceptional public health situation that we are currently experiencing forces us to work according to a tight work schedule and to review all the details of our on and off-ice activities. The health of players, volunteers and spectators will be the center of all our decisions. We know the importance of our event for curlers and for our region, and that is why we are going to work even harder, ” said Committee Chair Simon Gagné. He added, among other things, that public health measures concerning non-essential travel for competitions would still have to be lifted before finalizing the holding of the event and that a new wave or spread of the COVID-19 virus could change the picture at any time.
Registration forms are available on the Challenge’s website (www.challengecasinodecharlevoix.com). The registration costs have been modified according to the revised program and will be reimbursed in the event of a tournament cancellation by the organizing committee. Teams have until August 24th, 2020 to register. The committee will then confirm the categories and purses.
