The 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canada’s national women’s curling championship, concluded last week after several days of competition featuring the country’s top teams. The event took place in Mississauga, Ontario, and it was Team Canada Einarson that ultimately captured the title last Sunday. The championship showcased a very high level of curling throughout the week and was highlighted by many athletes competing in the event for the very first time.
Quebec was represented by Team Fortin, which was making its first-ever appearance at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. For this young team, it was a formative and memorable experience competing against Canada’s elite. Team Quebec was composed of Jolianne Fortin, Emy Lafrance, Megan Lafrance and Mégane Fortin, along with their coach Brandon Lafrance. Despite their young age, the Quebec athletes demonstrated great maturity on the ice, strong team cohesion, and a competitive mindset throughout the championship.
Over the course of the competition, Team Fortin played several very close games, some of which were decided in extra ends. Quebec finished the round-robin with a record of 2 wins and 6 losses, earning victories against Yukon and Saskatchewan. Although the team did not advance to the playoff rounds, the championship provided a valuable first experience among the national elite.
This U20 team will soon be back on the ice, as it will compete in the U20 Provincial Championship, which will be held in Alma at the end of February. This will be another opportunity for Team Fortin to put into practice the lessons learned from this national experience.
Quebec is very proud of Jolianne Fortin, Emy Lafrance, Megan Lafrance and Mégane Fortin, who represented the province with heart, determination and pride at the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Congratulations!
