The sport of curling is on the rise in Quebec, with a remarkable 7.4% increase in membership across the province’s clubs. This growth, representing nearly 1000 new curlers, is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the clubs, their volunteers, and the entire curling community who continue to foster a welcoming and engaging environment for both new and returning players.
Curling has long been a beloved winter pastime in Quebec, but in recent years, clubs have been stepping up their efforts to introduce the sport to a wider audience. Through open houses, youth programs, learn-to-curl initiatives, and increased community engagement, curling clubs have successfully attracted fresh faces to the sport. This impressive membership boost reflects not only the appeal of curling but also the inclusive and social nature of the clubs that promote it. In fact, nine out of ten regional associations in Quebec saw an increase in curlers, while the tenth region maintained a steady membership with no observed decrease.

As a new incentive this year, Curling Quebec has decided to offer a cash prize to the region with the highest percent increase in membership. We are proud to offer the $500 prize to the Sud-Ouest region, which saw a membership increase of over 14% compared to last season’s statistics. An honorable mention goes out to the Riverfield curling club, a member of the Sud-Ouest regional association, which nearly tripled their membership this season!
