Hello everyone. Here is your weekly news:
1- Roger Smith – Canadian Volunteer of the year: Building a new curling centre is not an easy task, but it’s one Roger Smith undertook with fervor as he saw the need for a facility in Chelsea, Quebec. Congratulations to Roger Smith who will be honoured by Curling Canada during an on-ice ceremony at the 2018 Tim Hortons Brier in Regina. Read complete news.
2- Mike Carson has won the Ray Kingsmith Award: Awarded by Curling Canada, the prize honours individuals who best demonstrate the commitment and dedication of Ray Kingsmith toward our sport. Congratulations to Mike Carson. Read complete news.
3- Masters provincial championships: The men’s Masters provincial championship will start on Sunday March 4th at the Sherbrooke Curling Club while the women’s event will begin on Monday March 5th at the Magog Curling Club. 4- Cream of the rock: Don’t forget to choose the podium teams for the Masters championships before they begin. You will find all the information on our website: http://curling-quebec.qc.ca/
5- « It’s our Super Bowl » – Brier 2018: Here’s an article (in French) that well describes our Brier team. Thanks to Le Journal de Montréal for putting the spotlight on our champions! Good luck in Saskatchewan, Team Québec. We’re proud of you!
6- Jet Ice Contest: The annual Jet Ice Contest is back and it is open to everyone! Express your creativity and design a full house by participating in the Jet Ice Contest. In collaboration with your curling club, get the chance to have your own design installed on home ice. The prize value is $500. Each curling club is invited to submit as many propositions as they want. Send your files in a vectorial format (ai or eps) and in visual format (pdf, jpr or png) to info@curling-quebec.qc.ca before March 19th, 2018.
7- Curling – A sport for everyone: Curling is definitely a unique sport that can be played by everyone, as shown in this photo. 4 generations of curlers got to play together for a special game at the Kenogami Curling Club: Mario Roy (88 years old) / Elaine Roy (daughter) / Julie Roy (granddaughter) / Maeva et Charlie Blackburn (great granddaughters).
8- Invitation: Lennoxville Curling Club invites you to its ‘Pie Bonspiel’ Men’s Tournament March 18 to 24th, 2018.
9- Invitation: Lennoxville Curling Club has another invitation. Their ‘Pie Bonspiel’ Senior Men’s Tournament will take place March 19 to 24th, 2018.
