Curling Québec officially announces that, starting with the 2026–2027 season, tiebreaker games will be eliminated from all of its provincial championships. This decision will apply to all categories: club, junior, colts, and elite.
This direction follows changes adopted at the Canadian and international levels, where tiebreaker games are no longer held. In an effort to align and standardize practices, Curling Québec’s Board of Directors has therefore decided to remove these games beginning in the 2026–2027 season.
Until now, holding tiebreaker games has posed significant logistical challenges for host clubs. Ice scheduling, along with the need to mobilize additional volunteers, has been a recurring issue. Curling Québec is confident that this change will contribute to improved operational efficiency for its championships and reflects a commitment to modernizing its practices in line with current standards in the sport.
Win-loss records, head-to-head results among tied teams, and Last Stone Draw (LSD) rankings will serve as tiebreaking criteria for future team standings.
