Hello everyone. Here is your weekly news:
1-) Job offer – Curling at the Place des Festivals: For the 375th anniversary of Montreal and Montréal en Lumières, Spectra – in collaboration with Curling Québec – offers a curling activity at the Place des Festivals in the Quartier des Spectacles in Montreal. The festival will take place from February 23rd to March 11th from Thursdays to Sundays. (there will be day and night shifts) and the job interviews will occur between January 17th to 23rd. If you are interested, submit your application online; applicants should also send a message to marobitaille@curling-quebec.qc.ca so we could prioritize your candidacy with Spectra.
2-) Registration deadline – Club series – Caledonia Cup: The registration deadline for the Jubilee (men), Lady Gilmour (mixed), St-Maurice (senior) and the Lassie (women) is January 30th. 3-) Registration deadline – Club series – Travelers: If your club would like to participate in the Travelers Provincials, you have until January 30th to let us know if you will have a men’s and/or a women’s team. 4) Registration deadline – Colts Provincial Championship: NEW This year, the Colts provincial championship will not be a part of the Caledonia Cup; it will be it’s own provincial event. 5-) Hall of Fame Ceremony: Last thursday, January 12th, the Curling Québec’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was held in Lévis during the provincial championships. Welcoming these new 9 personnalities of curling in Québec, the honorary guests (Cathy Hugues from Curling Canada, André Ferland and Jean Lamère from Curling Québec) presented the plaques to Lois Baines, Martha Don, Mary Anne Robertson, Arthur L. Lobel, Donald J. Aitken, Gerry Tomalty, James W. Ursel, Pierre Charette, and Lee Tobin (posthumous).
6-) Clarification: Curling Québec’s development programs: As we received many comments and questions in regards to Curling 101, Igloo and Curling in the gym, Curling Québec wants to point out once again that all documents and promotional materials related to these programs are offered to you for FREE. As affiliated clubs, you can ask and implement all three programs mentioned above with no charge and Curling Québec will be more than happy to work with you in developing the sport in your region. 8) Gushue against Ménard: The organizing committee of the 2018 Canadian Junior Curling Championships just announced a unique fundraising event. An exhibition game will be presented at the Grand-Mère Curling Club where our provincial champs (Team Ménard) will face-off against Team Gushue. Come and see our champions play against one of the best teams in the world and participate in the success of the 2018 junior nationals!
