Curling Canada is happy to announce the Competition Development Coaching Program has been converted to an ONLINE offering and four courses are ready to accept registrations in both English and French.
The program consists of 11 sport specific modules offered in a blended delivery model. Some courses are asynchronized, some are synchronized. Some consist of group work, live zoom style webinars, etc…. Offering the program ONLINE will hopefully encourage more coaches to take the training by providing geographic and financial accessibility. No longer will coaches need to centralize for five days to participate in an in-person workshop. Each course can be “purchased” separately and coaches earn professional development credits towards their NCCP Maintenance of Certification for each course.
Details about the program, including training pathways, registration links, workshop dates can be found here: https://www.curling.ca/ about-curling/competition- development-program- information/
The program is housed on Curling Canada’s e-learning platform – learn.curling.ca. Access to the system will be provided to coaches who have completed registration requirements on Curling IO. This is a manual process at this time and can take 1-2 business days to complete.
Two of the 11 modules are required for coaches who are advancing to the Canada Winter Games – Health and Wellness and Manage a Program. These programs along with two others are now available in both English and French. We will be adding more courses over the coming weeks as translation is finalized and materials are loaded into the e-learning platform.
Canada Winter Games coaches will need to have both courses completed by early January.
– Health and Wellness – can be completed on their own time in several hours
– Manage a Program requires individual and group work and a live presentation webinar done approximately 3-4 weeks after registration. We are enrolling up to 20 coaches in each cohort over the coming weeks.
