The Canadian U18 Championship begins on Sunday, February 8 in Timmins, Ontario, and Quebec will once again be well represented on the national stage. The competition will run from Sunday to Saturday and will bring together the top U18 teams in the country, in both the women’s and men’s divisions.
This year, four Quebec teams will take part in the championship:
- QC1 Girls – Team Pointe-Claire/Riverbend: Summer St. James, Juliette Bergeron, Emma Nguyen, Madeline Nguyen, Jasmine Bédard
Coach: Sonny St. James - QC2 Girls – Team Bel-Aire/St-Lambert: Béatrice Laplante, Victoria Grégoire, Angélie Thomassin, Lily Bernier, Noémie Charbonneau
Coach: Luc Thomassin - QC1 Boys – Team Grand-Mère: Louis-François Brassard, Raphael Tremblay, Nathan Beaudoin-Gendron, Olivier St-Pierre
Coach: Yves Tremblay - QC2 Boys – Team Pointe-Claire: Cole Richard, Nicolas Janidlo, Coby Olszewski, Zachary Janidlo, Charles Janidlo
Coach: Stephen Janidlo
For each category (girls and boys), the championship is made up of three groups of seven teams.
- QC1 Girls will compete in Group A
- QC2 Girls in Group B
- QC1 Boys in Group C
- QC2 Boys in Group A
Each team will play six round-robin games, with the goal of finishing among the top teams to advance to the playoff round. The round-robin will begin on Sunday and continue through Thursday, before giving way to the playoff games over the weekend.
