Starting Monday, 12 teams will take part in the Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship, which will be held at the Boucherville Curling Club for the second consecutive year.
Two teams will represent Quebec following their first- and second-place finishes respectively at the Provincial Wheelchair Curling Championship held in Rimouski in January.
Team Quebec #1, representing the Magog Curling Club, is composed of Carl Marquis, Sebastien Boisvert, François Lacourse, Johanne Mathieu, and Noémie Gagné, and is coached by Germain Tremblay. Their first game will take place on April 27 at 4:00 p.m. They will face, in order, Team British Columbia #2, Manitoba, Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia #1.
Team Quebec #2 represents the Victoria Curling Club and is composed of Luc Hamel, Mario Trudel, Martin Larose, Monique Martel, and Annik Charron, and is coached by Jacques Palasse. Their first preliminary round game will also take place on April 27 at 4:00 p.m. They will face the teams from Newfoundland and Labrador, Northern Ontario, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, and New Brunswick.
In addition, an 11th Quebec athlete, Claude Brunet, will be part of Team Manitoba for this championship.
