This one-time World Juniors Qualifier event is intended to provide a short-term fix to a problem created by the pandemic. It will determine two high-performance teams with medal potential at the 2022 World Junior Championships (Feb. 19-26, 2022, location to be announced by the World Curling Federation). Each province can send two teams (one team per gender) to the Junior Qualifier event.
Curling Quebec will therefore be organizing a qualification tournament from October 22-24, 2021, at the Bel-Aire Curling Club. The two winning teams (boys and girls) will earn the right to represent Quebec at the national qualification tournament, played in Saskatoon from November 22-27, 2021.
Eligibility: All athletes must be 20 years of age or less on June 30, 2021
Registration fees: $200 per team
Registration period begins: July 5th, 2021
Registration deadline: September 20, 2021
Event format: To be determined based on the number of registrations
Team composition: There are no special requirements for this event; any four players could decide to join forces for this one event only.
Important note: Curling Quebec will provide the official Quebec shirts and jackets to the winning teams, free of charge. Curling Canada will not offer any financial support for the national qualification tournament, so all other expenses (hotel, flight, food, etc.) will be the team’s responsibility.
