Exceptionally for the 2021-22 season, two provincial mixed championships are on the calendar. The first championship, which was not presented last year, will be played from October 6th to 10th, 2021, at the Victoria Curling Club. In addition, the winning team will have the privilege of representing Quebec at the Canadian Mixed championship in Canmore, Alberta, from November 7-14, 2021.
Because the provincial championship must be played so early in the season, the habitual regional qualification process will be impossible due to a lack of time. Therefore, instead of allocating one spot per region, we have opted for an open registration process for the fall championship only. All registered teams will be directly qualified to participate in the championship. The event format will be determined based on the number of registrations, and a minimum of three games will be guaranteed for each team.
The registration period will begin on Monday, July 5th and will end on September 1st, 2021. The online registration form is available at the following link: https://qc.curling.io/en/events/9695-2021-provincial-mixed-championship
Later in the season, we will host our regularly scheduled mixed championship. The 2022 mixed provincial championship will be held in Val-d’Or at the Belvedere Sports Club from March 16-20, 2022. This championship will follow the usual mixed championship format, which will consist of 12 teams divided into two pools of six teams. A round-robin will be played in each pool, and the top two teams from each pool will advance to the playoffs. The regular regional qualification process will be used to determine the twelve participating teams. The eventual event champions will represent Quebec at the 2022 Canadian Mixed championship in November 2022.
