Hello everyone. Here is your weekly news:
1- Jet Ice Contest: The annual Jet Ice Contest is back and it is open to everyone! Express your creativity and design a house by participating in the Jet Ice Contest. In collaboration with your curling club, get the chance to have your own design installed on home ice. The prize value is $500. Each curling club is invited to submit as many propositions as they want. Send your files in a vectorial format (ai or eps) and in visual format (pdf, jpr or png) to info@curling-quebec.qc.ca before March 19th, 2018.
2- Invitation – Meeting – Competitive curling: On May 5, Curling Québec will organize a consultation meeting on the future of competitive curling in Quebec. There are many new factors (ex : participation, funding, etc.) that are impacting our provincial championships and our competitive curling in general and we believe the opportunity is excellent to gather feedback and / or suggestions from our membership. Please note that official recommendations to the CQ Board of Directors may be made following this meeting. Curling Québec will reimburse the cost of transportation (1 car) and accommodation (1 hotel room) for each of the 10 regional associations. A resolution from the regional board of directors must be returned to CQ by April 20 in order to identify officially the regional reps. Any other person who would like to attend this meeting can do so but the expenses related to their participation will be their own responsibility. Thank you for confirming your presence (marobitaille@curling-quebec.q

6- Half & Half draw – your question answered: As an affiliated member of Curling Québec, curling clubs have a Half & Half draw licence. But what happens if a prize is not claimed? For the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux, there’s an immediacy principle that applies. Which means that the prize must be claimed within the minutes following the draw and if not, another draw must be done and detemine another winner.
7- High Performance Camp: Yes, Curling Québec is already working on the next season!! We’re happy to announce that the ”Academy of curling” coaches will be at the Boucherville curling club next September 7-8-9, 2018 to offer players of all levels some High Performance training camps.
