The Canadian U20 Championship took place from March 23 to 30, 2025, in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. This year, three teams had the opportunity to represent Quebec:
- Québec boys: Thomas Corbeil, Jacob Lepage, Louis-François Brassard, Pierre-Olivier Roy et Jean-Sébastien Roy (coach)
- Québec girls 1 : Mégane Fortin, Megan Lafrance, Emy Lafrance, Jolianne Fortin, Brandon Lafrance (coach)
- Québec girls 2 : Anne-Sophie Gionest, Juliette Bergeron, Sarah Bergeron, Sarah-Ann Daigle et Nathalie Gagnon (coach)
All three teams played eight preliminary round games, aiming to qualify for the playoffs.
The boys’ team from Club Des Collines won two games in the preliminary round, defeating Northern Ontario 2 by a score of 8-2 and Ontario by 10-4. Unfortunately, with a record of 2 wins and 6 losses—despite several close games—their journey ended at the conclusion of the preliminary round.
The two Quebec girls’ teams were in different groups and did not face each other.
Quebec Girls 2 (Riverbend/Etchemin team) won three games in the preliminary round: 10-5 against Prince Edward Island, 11-7 against Nova Scotia 2, 11-4 against Saskatchewan. In Group B, seven wins were needed to qualify for the playoffs. Unfortunately, with a record of 3 wins and 5 losses, Quebec Girls 2 did not advance.
Quebec Girls 1 (Kénogami Soudex team) had an exceptional week, finishing at the top of the standings. During the preliminary round, they only lost to Alberta 2 (6-7) and Ontario 2 (9-10). Thanks to an impressive 6-2 record, and holding the tiebreaker advantage over teams with the same record, Quebec Girls 1 advanced directly to the semifinals, bypassing the quarterfinals. In the semifinal, the Fortin and Lafrance sisters’ team defeated British Columbia 6-5 to reach the final. They faced Alberta, led by Myla Plett, the 2023 Canadian junior champion. Unfortunately, Quebec was unable to develop their usual game and fell 9-3 to Alberta, earning the silver medal. This is the third national championship medal for the Kénogami Soudex team, following a bronze medal at the 2023 Canada Games and a silver medal at last year’s U18 Canadian Championship. Congratulations to Mégane, Megan, Emy, Jolianne, and Brandon on this remarkable achievement!

Finally, we want to congratulate the other two teams for their performance, dedication, and hard work!
A special shout-out to Juliette Bergeron from Quebec Girls 2, who won the BalancePlus Award, congratulations!
