This season, we are offering a new service to all of our members who are interested in learning about the roles of a game clock operator (timekeeper) and of a game umpire for the first time or to the ones who wish to learn more about them as we will be offering free training days.
These sessions will be open to everyone interested in participating. This means that people who intend to be volunteers for a provincial championship as well as the one who are unsure or do not plan to volunteer this season but who would like to learn more are all welcome. These sessions will be given by officials who all have multiple years of experience as head officials for our federation and who have participated in multiple Canadian Championships as officials.
These sessions will be separated in 2 sections. The off-ice theory section will allow participants to learn about the roles and responsibilities of game clock operators and game umpires. The on-ice practical section will allow participants to get familiar with officiating material as well as procedures.
The following sessions are confirmed and are offered:
- December 14: Des Collines curling club (Instructor: Jacques Desharnais)
- December 14: Sherbrooke curling club (Instructor: Robert Rajotte)
- January 18: Amos curling club (Instructor: Yves Morissette)
As we mentioned, participation to these sessions will be free for all participants who will be responsible for their own transport to the training session as well as their food for the day. We are still asking that each participant registers for the sessions to allow us to know exactly how many people will be at each training. To register, you must fill out a form by clicking on the button below. For more information, please contact Émile Asselin (emile.asselin@curling-quebec.qc.ca).
