ALMA’S PROVINCIAL SENIOR CURLING TOURNAMENT OFICIALLY CESSES TO EXIST
It’s with sadness that the organisers of Alma’s Riverbend curling club’s provincial SENIOR curling tournament have decided that this event who was very popular amongst senior curlers from all over the province. This event that was held during the third week of October each year would have held it’s 19th edition in 2024.
The last couple of years have been difficult for the organisers. The COVID-19 pandemic, delays in the renovation of the Riverbend curling club, the need to modify the event’s format and the passing of time are the main reasons that lead to this situation.
The president of the organising committee, Mr. Michel de Champlain wishes to sincerely thank the members of participating teams, Alma’s Riverbend curling club’s board of directors, Curling Quebec and the members of the press for their continuous support of the event. He wishes to give a special thank you to their sponsors which are: Caisse Desjardins d’Alma, le Groupe Autocars Jeannois, la Résidence funéraire Lac-Saint-Jean and les Toiles TCI Inc. This event would not have been able to be held for 18 years without their financial and human resources.
He concluded by saying that he is confident that other initiatives will see the light of day and offer other opportunities for senior curlers.
