Aim for excellence, face the best, and claim victory

The Junior Excellence Series is designed for passionate young athletes who are determined to compete against the best. With a higher entry fee, this circuit offers cash prizes to reward effort and performance. Participants will have the chance to improve in a highly competitive environment, where excellence is the standard.

This circuit is intended for:

  • Young athletes up to 20 years old (who turn 20 after June 30, 2026) aiming for the podium at their U18 (if they turn 18 after December 31, 2026) and/or U20 provincial championships

  • Boys’ and girls’ teams

  • Teams with competitive experience who want to challenge the best and compete for attractive cash prizes

  • Teams from other provinces and international teams are welcome to participate and test themselves against top-level competition

Tournament Details

Excellence-type tournaments are competitive events that aim for the highest level of play. Here are the key details:

  • Registration fees are $375 per team.

    • $225 per team will go toward prize money ($1,800 in prize money with 8 teams and $2,225 with 10 teams)
    • $100 per team will go to the host club
    • $50 per team will be allocated toward ice quality improvements if the host club commits to enhancing ice conditions (such as sharpening rocks, increasing ice maintenance throughout the weekend, performing additional floods, or any other improvement specifically aimed at providing high-quality ice conditions). If the club does not fulfill this commitment, the amount will be added to the prize pool.
  • Each team is guaranteed 3 games, and all matches will be played over 8 ends. There will be two separate categories: girls and boys.

  • Teams that qualify for the playoff round will receive cash prizes. In each tournament, 4 teams will advance to the playoffs. The two teams that lose in the semifinals will tie for 3rd place and receive the same prize amount.

    • If there are 8 teams: 1st place — $750, 2nd place — $500, 3rd place (2 teams) — $275 each
    • If there are 10 teams: 1st place — $900, 2nd place — $575, 3rd place (2 teams) — $375 each

  • All teams from Quebec must have a coach who meets the required qualifications (Competition–Introduction coach training, Making Ethical Decisions evaluation, Safe Sport module, and a background check). Coaches must be certified at the Competition–Introduction level for the U18/U20 provincial championships.

  • Quebec teams participating in these tournaments may earn points toward qualification for the U18 and/or U20 Provincial Championship(s). For each Excellence tournament, the 1st-place team will receive 12 points, the 2nd- and 3rd-place teams will receive 11 points, and all other teams will receive 7 points. Only teams that meet the eligibility requirements can accumulate points. For more details, click here.
