It was the defeat at the hands of Kevin Koe’s team (Wild Card 2) that sealed Team Quebec’s destiny at the 2021 Brier yesterday afternoon. Had Quebec won, what would have followed would have been just as arduous a path, giving them access to a tie-breaker round and even a possible championship round qualification.
Team Fournier (Mike Fournier, Martin Crête, Félix Asselin, Jean-François Trépanier, William Dion and Benoît Forget) proved that, without a doubt, they deserved their place at such an elite championship. They caused several headaches for every team they encountered, and their combined efforts garnered four wins, the most notable of which was the one against the excellent John Epping foursome, who was forced to concede the game to our boys.
The team members’ individual performances were notable and none more than that of Jean-François Trépanier, who finished his Brier experience with an incredible positional percentage average of 94, making him the top performing lead of the 2021 Brier round-robin.
Team Quebec, you return home with your heads proudly held high. We are proud of you and of what you accomplished in Calgary.
