APPOINTMENT OF THE DIRECTOR OF COMPETITIONS AND OF THE DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
August 17, 2022, Montreal – Curling Quebec is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Émile Asselin as the new Director of Competitions, and the appointment of Miss Aline Fellmann as the Development and Communications Coordinator. The two new employees will start working in their new positions on August 23rd. This announcement follows the news of the recent promotion of Alanna Routledge, who is now the Executive Director of Curling Quebec, and the departure of Marily Bélanger, who left the federation to pursue a different career path.
Émile Asselin has been curling since he was a young child and he has had the opportunity to participate in several provincial and national curling championships. He has been associated with Curling Quebec for over ten years, first as a competitor and more recently as a coach and member of various working committees. Émile recently completed his Masters degree in physiotherapy. Upon his arrival at CQ, Émile will be responsible for all of the adult competitions (coordination of the men’s, women’s, seniors and colts provincial circuits) and he will be in charge of organizing all of the Elite Series and Club Series provincial championships. Émile’s athletic experience, his passion for curling, and his education in the health field will be important assets which will help him to promote curling throughout the province.
Aline Fellmann is a competitive curler from Switzerland. She started out as a junior and worked her way up to an elite athlete for the Swiss Curling Federation. She participated in multiple curling championships in the junior women, mixed doubles and mixed categories. Aline was formerly in charge of initiating new curlers as well as organizing coaches and training sessions at Royal Montreal Curling Club. She has been teaching curling for over 10 years and she has a Masters degree in criminology. Aline will be responsible for organizing all junior competitions, coordinating the development programs, organizing coaching and umpire workshops and will also handle the communications for Curling Quebec.
“We are extremely lucky not only to have found two excellent candidates who will quickly become important members of our small team, but two people who are passionate about curling and are committed to promoting and developing our wonderful sport throughout the province” declared Alanna Routledge, Executive Director of Curling Quebec. “The upcoming season is looking very optimistic thanks to the arrival of our two new colleagues and I’m very excited to begin collaborating with Aline and Émile on future projects.”
